Spring and Summer 1939

That same month, some girls who had experienced a very different odyssey joined the group. They had been deported to Zbąszyń in October 1938 but were able to leave Zbąszyń and Poland with one of the first Kindertransports. One of these girls was Rosa (Röschen) Piperberg from the fourth form at Jawne who had been separated from her classmates by the deportation on 28 October 1938. Dr Klibansky was in England at that time to organise the reception of more Jawne classes. He brought Rosa to join her classmates at the hostel in person.
